The Great Australian

Dream of owning

your own home is

fast becoming more

of an actual “dream”

than a reality.

Increasing house prices have

resulted in many savvy Gen X,

Gen Y and Millennials looking

for alternative ways to enter

the property market, without

compromising their inner-city

lifestyle of soy lattes and short

tram rides to work. This has

resulted in the emerging trend

of “rentvesting”.

According to New Homes

Consultant, John Sheehan,

“rentvesting” enables purchasers

to enter the currently inaccessible

property market as an investment.

“Rentvesting gives buyers

financial confidence, by allowing

them to purchase a property within

their budget that is in a high growth

area as an investor, whilst renting

in a different location where they

prefer to live and work,” said John.

“Essentially, rentvesting allows

you to live your ‘on-trend’ lifestyle

in your favorite suburb while also

having an investment portfolio to

fulfill your future financial goals.”

In a recent report, News

Corp Australia reflected on the

rentvesting approach amongst

millennials, outlining Melbourne’s

top locations offering the highest

property growth potential being in

northern suburbs such as Epping

and Wollert, and in South Eastern

suburbs like Cranbourne and Clyde.

This is supported by Real

Estate Australia’s live statistics

which show that the median house

price in Clyde has increased by

16.5% in the last 12months alone,

outperforming traditional hot spots

like Collingwood 6%, Brighton 8.3%

and Albert Park 4.4%.

It’s important to get the

fundamentals of rentvesting correct

to ensure you maximise your

investment’s potential. Contact a
